Spring Fete supports local Samford charity

Samford Grove Retirement Village recently hosted the Samford Valley community for a day of market stalls, live music and family fun at the Samford Community Spring Fete.

On Saturday 21 September, Samford Grove Retirement Village hosted the local community for a day of market stalls and live music at the Samford Community Spring Fete – all for a very worthy cause.

Raffle ticket sales on the day raised $600 for the Samford Support Network in recognition of the important work they do in the local community.

Reside Communities CEO Glen Brown said the village’s residents were particularly passionate about supporting the organisation.

“Many of our residents are long-time supporters of the Samford Support Network and have been raising money through various fundraising initiatives for several years,” he said.

“In a close-knit community like Samford, we have all seen the amazing impact their work has on locals who are struggling.

“We would like to say a big thank you to all the stallholders and businesses who donated raffle prizes and to the Samford State School students who volunteered their time to help us sell tickets.”

In addition to their fundraising efforts, the Samford Grove residents held a Devonshire tea and manned market stalls ranging from trash and treasure to craft and woodworking.

They were joined by more than 30 local stallholders selling handmade goods, crafts, fresh produce and more.

Performances from a local musician and the Samford Community Choir helped to create a vibrant, relaxed atmosphere, and a free jumping castle and face painting kept younger attendees entertained.

“It was a fantastic day and we were thrilled to see so many locals attending with their families,” Glen said.

“With Samford Grove’s new development now underway, this was a wonderful opportunity for us to welcome the wider community and show off our beautiful village.”
